    Gold Star Wives of America

This congressionally chartered, non-profit organization exists to provide support and friendship to the widows and widowers of those who died during active duty or, following retirement, died later from a cause related to their military service.  Members visit and volunteer not only in VA and military hospitals,  but throughout their communities in any capacity that will aid and assist veterans and the spouses of deceased veterans.

The organization works tirelessly to overcome obstacles in accessing government provided help.  They do so by educating members about available benefits and also through networking with other veterans service organizations, the DOD and the VA.  Gold Star Wives also attack the problem at its roots by actively engaging with lawmakers at all levels to constantly educate for enhanced benefits for its members.
